The Salomon/First Ascent 12km/7km Trail run began much later then the usual road Races. It was fantastic to see so many Satori Members join in an event that is very foreign to the average Road Runner.
The briefing by Eugene made many a road runner wish he/she could now run away. But they didn't. The first 400 m on the tar were easy... then the off-roading began. The Satori Bus was a fast one and they took off in the front of the field. As the road turned into a single jeep track, and then into a hiking path.. the running turned into a bit of stop and go.

Then as the up-hills continued and the field spread out it became easier and easier to run your own pace. The scenery and the Fynbos were stunning, it was a wonderful experience to run in the mountains and have nothing but sand and Fynbos around you.
The lack of water tables was troubling for some of the road runners but everybody made it to the end in really acceptable times.

Well Done to all the Trail Run Novices. Satori is truly becoming a adventurous Running Club.
Hope to repeat something like this soon.
