Chappies Challenge
Congratulations to all those Satori Warriors who ran the Chappies Challenge last Sunday especially to Scott Tait and Lorna Fulford on their half marathon PBs.
Next year will someone make sure that Charissa knows about this race as she was spotted running down Chappies long after the race was done and muttering about not knowing the race was happening!

Bay to Bay not accepting on-the-day entries
The Ocean Basket Bay to Bay on Sunday 8 January will NOT be taking entries on the morning of the race, as they have done in previous years. Runners must enter online at www.topevents.co.za up until Monday 2 January or enter at Sportsmans Warehouse in Rondebosch and Tygervalley on Saturday 7 January from 10am to 4pam.
Runners don’t need a credit card to enter online but can pay by eft or direct deposit – for those runners from out of town etc. We have made sure we have given enough advanced warning to all the clubs, on various websites, Facebook etc. and we would like to avoid having loads of runners arriving on race day expecting to enter.
Thanks in advance

Two Oceans Half Marathon Entries go on Auction
Runners who missed out on an Old Mutual Two Oceans half marathon entry will have the chance to bid for one when 21 charity entries go up for auction, as part of a major fundraising initiative for the Two Oceans Marathon Initiative (TOMI), the event’s charity foundation.
Bidding for the 21 half marathon entries is scheduled to open on Thursday 1 December 2011. Entries open at R900 each and provide those participants who missed the entry deadline with a chance to secure a half marathon entry. Interested participants can post their bid at www.oldmutual.co.za/twooceansmarathon.
The auction runs for 21 days until Wednesday 21 December 2011, with one entry awarded to the highest bidder of each day. Winners will be announced the day after each bid. Winning bids will also receive a PUMA product voucher and their race entry includes an ‘A’ seeding. The top two successful bids will each receive an invite to the VIP hospitality area at the finish line on race day.
Race director Rowyn James said that entries for the 2012 Old Mutual Two Oceans half marathon closed in a record time of nine days and the office and social media sites have been inundated with calls and appeals from disappointed runners who missed out. “This is a way for us to help a few of them, while also raising funds for our charity drive TOMI.”
A record field of 16 000 will line up in Newlands on Easter Saturday 7 April making it the biggest field ever, as well as the biggest half marathon in the country.
“The auction was first introduced for the 2009 event and has proved to be a successful, yet novel way to raise some extra funds for charity. It provides those select few who weren’t able to get an entry with a chance to still run the event and support a worthy cause at the same time,” said Joy Khaole, Head: Group Sponsorships, Old Mutual.
Handicap Time Trial: 7 December 2011
This is your last chance this year and for the foreseeable future to take on the speedsters and win! The run will have a staggered start as per normal kicking off at 6pm. Check the website for your start time. You must have run three time trials in the last quarter to qualify for the competition but even if you haven’t qualified, come along and join in the fun – you just cannot win any of the prizes but the beer will still be cold. If you don’t know how the handicap time trial works pop an email to Moira – This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for the lowdown.

Membership renewal opened on 1 December and is done via the website. The only exception is for our junior members who do not have a parent as a club member. Hard copy forms are made available to them as we need to get the signature of a parent or guardian. Go to our website and sign up.

Club runs
It has been an absolute pleasure organizing and leading the runs in 2011. I have had lonely and busy early morning runs, nervous novices starting on the Monday evening run walk route. I have had old friends joining in and new SATORI Members willingly being dragged along long windy roads.
Especially I would like to commend the courage and persistence of the 'returning" runners who battle their way back from various injuries, illnesses or other reasons for not running. Welcome back and may your running grow from strength to strength.
Pauline, Marci, Becky and Bridget thank you for being ready to lead a run, often on very short notice. Thank you to the entire Chamber's family who have established a lovely tradition amongst our children and for making the Monday run possible in the first place.
I thank all of you who made pounding the tar and the mountain in 2011 a sociable and enjoyable affair...week after week. The pathfinder is taking leave over the school holidays but I will return in mid January 2012 full of energy.
I am wishing everyone a wonderful Christmas and a joyous New Year celebration.
Click here to see our training run schedule on our website.
Being a pathfinder has been an honor and I am looking forward to seeing more of you on the mountain and on the road in 2012.
Andrea
For the love of it!!!
