URGENT: LOOKING FOR A NEW RACE DIRECTOR

The annual Satori Camel Run is looking for a new race director. The race is well established and there is an experienced team that is involved in the organisation but we need someone to drive this process and ensure that all logistical and legal requirements are met. We urgently need someone to take on this important role. Strong admin and project management skills will be an advantage.

Race planning commences in May each year and the committee meets every six weeks to provide feedback on their portfolios. If you are interested and would like to know more please contact Keith Gurney on 083 948 0076 or Charissa on 074 190 7535

PR person needed

Are you passionate about running and Satori, can you communicate well and sell your passion? If you can then you may be the person we are looking for.
Satori is in need of some serious marketing and PR and the committee does not have the capacity to take on this task.

We need your expertise to get our name out there in the community. Call Charissa if you are interested (074 190 7535)]

An evening to celebrate with families and friends. An awesome fun venue with delicious food, a cash bar and great music. You can buy your tickets from Steve after time trial, Lyndall at the Noordhoek Vet or from any one of the committee members. Hope to see you there.

Argus Cycle Tour -Charity Bond

Lately I have been working with the Chaeli Campaign, which is a trust very close to my heart. It is an awesome Cape Town based (non-profit) organisation that focuses on mobilising the minds and bodies of children with disabilities.

They have kindly offered to sponsor the little ‘special-needs’ school that I am aiming to open for my Amber and her disabled peers.

Would you like to cycle the Argus for our cause? If so, please read the below and we will chat!

Happy cycling!

Hi Cyclist!

Every year we have a special group of cyclists who don our cycling jersey and become Chaeli Riders! They ride to raise awareness and funds for our differently-abled children, most of whom are in wheelchairs and they rely on us to mobilise their minds and bodies. I have attached information about The Chaeli Campaign (pronounced “Kay-lee”), which highlights our various programmes.

As Argus 2012 entries are now closed, cyclists are encouraged to enter through a Charity Bond. If you have already entered online, you can also join the Chaeli Charity bond. Being part of a charity bond entitles you to:

  • Guaranteed entry
  • A start time of no later than 08:45. 2011’s start time was 08h15. Charity Bond members who qualify for an earlier start will still be seeded accordingly with the option to drop down to ride with their teammates in the Charity Bond.
  • Late closing date for entries
  • Special 'goody bag’
  • Special area at registration for collection of race packs

Cost of entries: R500.00 per entry (incl. of VAT). This amount of R500 is paid over to the tour organizers, the charities do not receive a cent. It includes all your usual entry fees for the day, as well as your PPA licence for the event. If you need to purchase a timing transponder, that would be extra. If you have already entered and paid online and you want to ride in the Chaeli bond and enjoy the earlier start time, you can do so. You will be charged the difference between what you paid online and R500 to move you up to join the group. If your start time is earlier, you can choose to remain in your own group or drop down to the Chaeli bond group.

We encourage our cyclists to raise as close to, if not more than R2000 each in sponsorships. Family, friends and colleagues can be asked to sponsor your ride and we can issue them with a tax receipt if required, enabling them to claim a full tax refund to the value of their donation.
Our cycling jersey is issued free of charge, so we ask that your sponsorships raised are a minimum of R450 to cover this expense, thank you for your understanding.

We are aiming for over 100 Chaeli Riders in 2012, so please forward this information onto any keen cyclists. We’d also like to encourage you to cycle for a differently-abled person that you may know or have in your family. They are always in need of funds for various and numerous expenses. We can facilitate the payment of their expenses for as long as the funds raised, allow.

Our Double & Again event takes place again from Hermanus to Cape Town on Friday, 9 March 2012. After overnighting in Stellenbosch, the cyclists ride to Cape Town on Saturday, 10 March 2012. They then cycle in the Argus Tour on Sunday, 11 March 2012 - a grand total of over 300km’s! If this sounds appealing, please contact me for further information.

Thank you & warm regards

Melanie
