Satori Athletics Club was officially born in January 2006. The name 'Satori' refers to a Japanese state of harmonious balance between mind, body and emotions.
The Wednesday evening five kilometre time trial is the central club event of the week. Those not yet bitten by the running bug can join the walkers group, while children are an integral part of the club - there is always a parent watching over them. Once the time trial is over, its time to chill. Sipping a post-run beer or cider with friends while watching the summer sun go down over the Atlantic is idyllic.
Satorians can also be found gathered around braai fires at the Oasis several times a year, and occasionally dancing under the stars to a superb selection of music.
In the end however, Satori is about the pure joy of running. Members come in all shapes and sizes and assorted fitness levels.

Membership renewal opened on 1 December 2011 and is done via the website. The only exception is for our junior members who do not have a parent as a club member. Hard copy forms are made available to them as we need to get the signature of a parent or guardian. See our membership link on the left and sign up.

Waiting List - (NB – This is only for novices. IE you have not previously completed the PUFFER)
As of 2012 we have decided to introduce a NOVICE waiting list. How it will work is as follows.
- As of 09 January 2012 (07:00) you will be able to submit your names to be added to the NOVICE waiting list. This list will be ordered according to date and time that you submit your request.
- Submissions will only be available via the internet (Link will be provided on the website by 07:00 on 09 Jan 2012) www.puffer.fishhoekac.com
- The organizer will email you a reference number confirming your addition to the waiting list (within 7 days). Please quote this reference number during all correspondence.
- During May 2012 runners will be invited to enter the Hi-Tec Puffer 2012 based on their position on the waiting list as well as the % of entries allocated to Novices. Please note that this will be done via email so it is vital that you ensure your email address is correct and that you keep the organizers informed of any changes to your email address
- Once a runner has been sent an invitation their name will be removed from the waiting list.
- Application for invitation to Participate in Hi-Tec Puffer 2012 (Non-Novices)
- Only online applications will be accepted.
- Applications open 01 May 2012 (Link will provided on the website by 07:00 on 01 May 2012)
Qualifying Criteria
- Complete Ultra Marathon during period 01 Dec 2011 to 14 Jul 2012 (inclusive)
Club runs
The Pathfinder welcomes you back to Satori in 2012.
I am back from my holiday and am ready to lead your runs from Monday 16th January as follows.
Monday evenings, same as last year, leaving from the Baptist Church at 18h00. This run caters for two groups, firstly the beginners or those who feel they need to start 2012 slowly; and secondly for the more experienced runners who would like to run in a group.
The Saturday/Sunday runs will be increasing in distance from 15 km in January leading up to The Two Oceans Marathon, with lovely long runs up to 40 km towards the end of our training.
I am looking forward to sharing the hours on the road with you.
Very important please note that the morning runs start at 06h00 during the first term of 2012.

Bay to Bay not taking on-the-day entries
The Ocean Basket Bay to Bay on Sunday 8 January will NOT be taking entries on the morning of the race, as they have done in previous years. Runners must enter online at www.topevents.co.za up until Monday 2 January or enter at Sportsmans Warehouse in Rondebosch and Tygervalley on Saturday 7 January from 10am to 4pam.
Runners don’t need a credit card to enter online but can pay by eft or direct deposit – for those runners from out of town etc. We have made sure we have given enough advanced warning to all the clubs, on various websites, Facebook etc. and we would like to avoid having loads of runners arriving on race day expecting to enter.

Satori Christmas Party : 10 December 2011
A good time was had by all who came to the Satori Christmas party last Saturday - the food was excellent - thanks mainly to Katrina Downing but many others were involved as well.
The venue was superb - those of you who missed it, missed out!
Club runs
It has been an absolute pleasure organizing and leading the runs in 2011. I have had lonely and busy early morning runs, nervous novices starting on the Monday evening run walk route. I have had old friends joining in and new SATORI Members willingly being dragged along long windy roads.
Especially I would like to commend the courage and persistence of the 'returning" runners who battle their way back from various injuries, illnesses or other reasons for not running. Welcome back and may your running grow from strength to strength.
Pauline, Marci, Becky and Bridget thank you for being ready to lead a run, often on very short notice. Thank you to the entire Chamber's family who have established a lovely tradition amongst our children and for making the Monday run possible in the first place.
I thank all of you who made pounding the tar and the mountain in 2011 a sociable and enjoyable affair...week after week. The pathfinder is taking leave over the school holidays but I will return in mid January 2012 full of energy.
I am wishing everyone a wonderful Christmas and a joyous New Year celebration.
